I belong to Jesus Christ. I am not ashamed to testify that God has a Son, that His name is Jesus. His death is the only way that my sin could be paid for. Jesus paid it all, and I
am now right with God because of His being my substitute. Christ died for God, to satisfy God's righteousness, and God was satisfied with Christ. I am His grateful disciple. I live and work for His honor.
Jesus Christ is my Savior, my King, my Master, my reason for existence, my hope, my dream, my future, my everything. The deepest desire of my heart is to be useful to my Master. I believe that God's
children are called to live extraordinary lives for Christ.
The most important thing in the world to me is falling more in love with Him every day, reading His Word--His love letter to us--telling others about Him, and helping those in need.
My biggest dreams are to find a wife, get married, raise kids to know and love the Lord, become a dance teacher, become a full-time photographer, become a massage therapist and possibly a chiropractor, become a birth doula, write books that help people
rethink their worldview, to help the poor of this world using my life to meet their physical and spiritual needs, and if the Lord opens up the doors, to help translate the Bible into language groups that don't yet have the Scriptures.
I love life and I love to learn. I feel like this world is a playground for my mind. I love dancing! I have taken English country dancing classes, and am currently taking ballroom and salsa dance classes. I wish I'd started years ago! I often find myself tracing dance steps while I'm doing other things. I love the way I feel
when I'm dancing.
I live near Atlanta, Georgia. I am originally from Philadelphia.
As an outworking of my writing about how the Christian worldview relates to the body, I am a Certified Lactation Counselor. To find out
why,
click here. I am also currently working on my postpartum doula certification. I love learning about the body,
how awesomely God made it, especially the beauty of sexuality, fertility, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. God's design is beautiful and amazing!
My testimony
My greatest passion in life is growing close to my Savior, Jesus Christ. He is my Lord, and everything I do is ultimately for Him. My primary interest is to please Him in all I think, say, and do, to let Him live out the life He has put in me. It is all of grace, and while I do not understand why He chose me, I am eternally grateful that He did. "'Tis mercy all, immense and free."
I trusted Christ as my Savior when I was four. He never let go. I rededicated my life to Him at age ten. God's mercy and grace have been my stronghold.
I know you don't always get the ending you ask for, and I trust my Father's loving heart and awesome power. He may not be "safe" but He's "good." I really believe that. I have been to the edge and back, and I will always leave the darkness for the light. Even when all hope seems gone, I know that He is in charge, and that He loves me, and has a plan for my life. I praise Him for using others to build that foundation my life when I was young, so that when the storms came, the house of my heart was built on the Rock.
I desire to commune intimately with God through Christ, who was my Go-Between, and to reach out to those around me as a strong conduit of His love and grace.
I want to take the light into the heart of darkness. When you bring struggles and sins out of the darkness and into the light, they lose their power. I want to apply that principle to my own heart and share it with anyone who will listen.
I can't wait to fall at the feet of my King and hear Him say that I am accepted in the Beloved and that I was faithful to what He called me to do.
What makes my life complete is knowing that I have a relationship with God through Jesus. Whatever circumstance I am in, whether I feel great or horrible, when I am on top of the world or ready to fall apart, when I want to laugh or want to cry, I know that at the end of the road, there is a person who took all my punishment so that I can stand without fear of condemnation, and I know I will live forever in the presence of my Savior. I can't wait for that family reunion.
I would like to be a Bible translator, and at the very least help the poor. 30,000 kids die each day from poverty! I don't work in order to get rich; I work in order to give it all away. Those 30,000 kids that die of hunger every day are God's kids. I want to help.
I am extremely ambitious about life--about what really matters in life. I believe I can and do and will change the world.
I own and operate Abracadabra Photography. I love photography, and have other photos on my photo blog. I delight in every aspect of God's creation. I see beauty everywhere.
I am a writer. When I write, I feel God's pleasure. I am currently working on my third book, about the body and sexuality. If you'd like to know why I'm writing a book about the body and sexuality, click here.
Once that book is done, my next books are about other aspects of worldview, including a book about how the subject of linguistics affects our worldview and theology. I am also working on some children's books. You can see information about my books at timsbooks.com.
I am a Certified Lactation Counselor because I believe that our attitudes toward breastfeeding--including how men view it--are some of the most important indicators of how healthily we view the body. Our society's views towards mothers feeding their children, including in public places, is a litmus test of its perversion, and it really is important and vital to send messages to the next generation of what the beauty of life and love and family is all about. I believe that such a shift in our thinking can't be only coming from and going to women--men need to be actively supporting women to give their babies the very best, and taking the lead in helping our society see the body through a different grid, especially for the sake of the next generation. The body is not meant to lead us to shame; when we rejoice in it healthily, that mindset leads us right back to Him in wonder and praise.
I sell Juice Plus because I believe wholeheartedly in holistic and natural healing. Juice Plus is a health and wellness product that provides whole-food-based nutrition. Most people still don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables every day. Juice Plus+ helps fill that gap.
I think it's important to have a great imagination and then sanctify it for God's use as we put the gifts He gave us into good use, and it's been delightful to do that with writing.
I have seen over the years how God has taken my love of words, my desire to write, and my love of languages, and begun to use them for His glory. I've been writing since I was very young.
When I was in 5th grade, I wrote a 90-page science-fiction novel.
I study words in ways that very few people ever have or would even think of. You'd be surprised at the linguistic patterns that we use all the time but don't even think about or understand but that they use all the time. I want to understand and master them.
I have been preparing to write my current, second book--about the body--for twenty years. I am so thankful to God for bringing me to this place, where I can finally see the freedom and joy we're supposed to have in being human and physical--and still glorifying to God. I wish someone had told me that there was another way to view the body; I am still amazed that I've been a believer for over twenty-five years and never once heard anyone talk about the body in the ways I now do. I think the body is wonderful, is God's beautiful art, and I celebrate it and praise Him for it.
I am collecting notes for at least 28 other books. I really love to write.
I worked for a contractor and eventually became a custom cabinetmaker for several years. I can build an entire house, and can fix almost anything you can break. I have always wanted to build a log cabin, and someday I hope I will get to do it. I love the countryside and hope to live there someday. If I could build a home anywhere, I would live in a cottage by the sea or a log cabin on a lake in the mountains.

What I'm most thankful for
Salvation, and the deepening understand of God and His plan, and the chance to share His love with others.
A mother who put me on the path of learning languages, thinking deeply, and valuing romance and chivalry.
The strong faith God has put in me--I am a fully hopeful optimist through Him.
I love the arts. I am enticed by music, dance, color, design, and words--like a moth to a flame.
I love to learn. I love words so much that I literally study my dictionary, and have done so before for 12 hours straight. When I see words, my mind does awesome things with them that most people couldn't imagine.
I am fascinated by how the human body works and am in a process of looking very carefully at how we view physical healthiness in our society.
I speak French and some Spanish and have studied some Japanese, German, Korean, Russian, Italian, pidgin English, koine Greek, ancient Hebrew, Latin, Gaelic, and would love to really dig into some of them again and learn them well. I also studied a remote tribal language while in Papua New Guinea. Fun stuff! I am fascinated by words and languages.
I have written 50-page letters. I love to write and receive handwritten letters. I have had 7-hour long phone conversations.
I love to write poetry and songs.
I would love to be a Bible translator someday. There are over 2,500 languages that still need the Word of God in their native, heart language.
I love walking in the rain. I love seeing the sun rise. I love the sunshine in general, soaking up its warmth. I love walking on the beach. I love the wind, especially breezes off a lake or ocean. I love bonfires and roasting marshmallows, stargazing and late-night walks, reminiscing about the past, taking in the moment, and looking forward to the future, spontaneity, and playing soccer.
One of my biggest dreams is to someday have a huge garden, full of lilies and daisies, weeping willows, greenhouses, secret gardens, and benches to stop and worship, read, or talk to friends.
I think I was born in the wrong era. I definitely belong in eras when elegance reigned, when chivalry in men was expected and femininity in women was celebrated. When everyone grew up learning ballroom dancing and country dancing.
I have artwork all over my house.
I play the piano, and started taking dancing lessons in 2006. I do nearly every craft.
I love to laugh and smile. Sometimes I laugh so hard I cry.
I love intimate songs that make me ache inside because of the pain they encapsulate or the dreams they picture.
I love babies. I would love to have several children.
I love reading my Bible by candlelight.
I laugh a lot. I am not afraid to cry, and I do during some sad or really romantic movies.
I play "The Glad Game" constantly (see the movie Pollyanna).
I am the second oldest of four children: three boys, one girl.
I was born on my mom's birthday.
I am left-handed. Yes, the ink smudges when I write.
I love listening to different accents and learning about other cultures.
I believe men should be masculine and chivalrous and women should be feminine and ladylike.
I was homeschooled for several years, and was able to be graduated a year early from high school because of it, but then I took five years for a four-year degree, so it evened out. I majored in Bible, Pastoral Ministry, and French.
My favorite color is blue. Can you tell?
I love cooking and baking. I can cook without using recipes--and it tastes great.
I can't stand American football. I can't stand most so-called professional sports, for that matter. But I love soccer ... er ... what the entire rest of the planet calls "football." I really enjoy watching the Olympics.
I type 100 wpm.
I go to bed when the sun goes down.
I love to look at maps and pictures of other places, and think of what the world looks like to other people, to try to put myself in their shoes.
I am sometimes quiet; I usually prefer others to be in the spotlight. I love to be with people, but I also enjoy solitude. Too much of either makes me long for the other.
I hate when people break promises. I hate feeling like I'm the only one trying. I love the feeling of feeling loved.
I love the words "I choose you"; I can't stand the words, "Good bye."
When I was little, I wanted to be an astronaut. Outer space still astounds me. I can look up into the night sky for hours.
I would love to collect Tiffany lamps, hour glasses, chess sets, swords, globes, and snow globes.
I love photography. I take at least a handful of pictures every single day. You will frequently find me on the side of the road, stopping to take pictures of a beautiful landscape or a sunset. I take a lot of pictures of skies. Part of it is that I love the beauty of it; and part of is that I know who's coming through them soon--and I am eager to see His face.
I am passionate about pursuing excellence (not perfection, but excellence) in all areas of my life, for the glory of God.
I am a dreamer. When I dream, I feel God's pleasure.

Whom I'd like to meet
Jesus the Messiah, who paid a debt He didn't owe, because I had a debt I couldn't pay. If He walked in the room, I would fall at His feet. I do not deserve that kind of mercy and grace.
